Book: 𝕄𝕦𝕣𝕕𝕖𝕣 𝕒𝕥 𝕄𝕠𝕠𝕟𝕝𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥 ℂ𝕒𝕗𝕖 & 𝕠𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕣 𝕤𝕥𝕠𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕤

Author: Ishavasyam Dash

❒︎ Omprakash and Dilip, police officers and best buddies are catching up at one of manali's poshest bars, when a most unsettling murder is committed right under their noses.

❒︎ A strange spectral presence haunts a man day and night, eating away years from his life, until he takes part in an unorthodox ritual and comes face to face with his tormentor.

❒︎ Mariam- a gentle, unassuming woman in her late fifties has a strange hobby - gate-crashing funerals.

❒︎ This book is a compilation of 11 short stories, each belonging to different genres. From murder, mythology, horror to fantasy, this book has it all.

❒︎ My favorite ones were "murder at Moonlight Cafe" cause you know it has a mystery aspect to it, so obviously I'm bound to like it, and also I loved the fact that "Rati" does most of the investigation work with such confidence even though her husband and his friend are the ones who are police officers. The story kept me totally engaged and turning pages.

❒︎ The Second one was "it watched me", this story is so creepy, I kept wondering until the last page what was that "it" ?? The story takes you into the life of a young man who feels like he's being watched every moment of the day. The mental torment he goes through, while he tries to improve his life in every possible way he can in order to attain mental peace, finally he then encounters his tormentor while performing a very unorthodox ritual. The way the author describes his emotions felt very realistic and scary.

❒︎ Smokes and Mirrors the first tale in this book circles around three people - Anaya, a instagram influencer, Pari - a social media addict and Kamala, a house maid. The story reflects on how social media has affected the young minds of India and their obsession in following trends.

❒︎ This book is a compilation of really bizarre tales, which at first some of these stories didn't make much sense to me. But then, the message each of these stories deliver is something which will keep you thinking for a while.

❒︎ And also I love how aesthetic the book cover is, y'all know I have a thing for pretty book covers.

❒︎ Overall this book was very insightful and made me see the characters from different perspectives. For a debut book, the author has definitely done a fab job.

So if you're looking for one such book, definitely pick this up. It's available on Amazon.
